Day Three
by Kevin on Feb.11, 2010, under Site News
Good morning again. Carrie doing great and had a good night’s sleep. Her pain medication has worn off and she has learned that surgery hurts, and worse, that I am funnier and better looking on high doses of morphine. What this means for the future remains uncertain. Kevin asleep when I arrived but I have taken a good look at all his monitors and equipment and, using my medical knowledge, I have determined two things. He is breathing and has a pulse. I will learn more as the doctors make rounds. As with any transplant, adjustments are constantly being made and they are still working to control his blood pressure, pain, etc. but overall he is doing great. I wish I knew what to say to all of you who are praying for us. Thanks just doesn’t seem enough.

It’s taken me 3 days to find this place and its only because my nephew Dennis emailed it to me. Love your comments. Will a Dry Martini
help Carrie to see you through rose colored glasses when you are all at home?….No thanks wanted or needed. Prayers continue for a wonderful family.

Carrie, you are a real trooper. God bless you. I could not handle Vicodin, especially since I was on a liquid diet until such time as I flatulated, so my doctor switched me to Extra Strength Tylenol, which worked fine for me. Remember to rest when you need to so you can regain your strength.

Praying for Kevin and the transplant has been a faith journey for all of us, it has been an honour to be part of that journey.

Its nice to see we all have some humor after the loooong road that Kev’s been down this past few month’s…what a trooper!!!
Kev, you now are one up on Mom and Dad…you have two kidney’s and they are singular’s…and Kev, you know..now that you have Mom’s kidney, that the gas issues come with the kidney….good luck! : ))
God Bless you both and may you both be blessed with a speedy recovery and good health!!!…
Love you….ray
Hang in there Jeff…and do keep the humor-patrol a rolling….”your a dime amongst nickels”

And Carrie, don’t you feel so much lighter without that extra kidney bogging you down!?!?
I have faith that Carrie and Kevin both will be back on their feet, healthy as ever, probably in record time! Likewise, i have faith that Jeff’s corny (yet funny since i’m laughing out loud like a dummy at my desk… co-workers are looking at me funny)) jokes will continue as they heal. Keep it up!

Okay, the truth is I’m NOT on morphine! They had used Dilaudid on both Kevin and I and I’m now on half a tablet of Vicodin. Jeff is funny on any given day and ohhhhh so handsome!!! I’m so happy he’s entertaining you all as he has kept us laughing throughout the years. Even in the most serious situations, Jeff manages to say something that makes Kevin and I laugh. So glad you all are getting to know my better half!!!!! Ah, life is good!! God is awesome, and you all are amazing gifts to us.

Hey Jeff, I think I have a copy of “Kidney Transplation for Dummies” lying around that I can send you.
Keep us informed. You guys are the greatest and I am NOT on drugs!

The necessary drug to cope….must stay on top of that one….mmmmm, i would wonder if you look better and are funnier when the patient is under morphone………That is why they have drugs…to manage and control….Now she can roll over in bed and see your handsome face……good idea..the hotel…she probably gets better rest. Praying is what we all do for one another…you would do it for us if we needed……it is our gift to you three because we cannot administer drugs or change bed pans…

Jeff, I hope you save these blog posts for the next edition of “The Waiting Room – A view from Dad’s corner”. We’re praising God here in the office today (me and Joe Handley) for His faithful care of you all. No need to say that we’re with you every minute in prayer for Carrie and Kevin to receive complete healing from our Lord. Rest well today, dad!

Carrie, so glad you had sent me an email as for some reason I did not get the blog address previously. I have been on pins and needles not knowing what was going on since Tuesday. Now I am in the loop (as opposed to being loopy – but that’s a whole other story!) and I am so excited to be caught up on the news. Jeff, your entries are hysterical and they lightened the moment to be sure. God is soooo good! Bears repeating, God is so good. Still praying for all of you each day. Thanks for posting the pics as well. Was going to call your Dad today to see how he was coping with it all. Assuming Deanna is in town? God bless you and I know the staff will be blessed by your strength that only comes from the Lord. To God be the glory!
Love ya! Valerie

Oh yes, the miracle of morphine.I thought I was hardly hitting my magic button the night following surgery. My nurse set me straight the next morning. I think I was not the most gracious host to visitors in my room as I would fall asleep at the drop of a hat without prompting. Glad to hear all three of you are doing well. Love, prayers, and hugs to all the Georges.Jeff, you are doing a great job on the blog. Art

You missed YOUR calling my friend. You could be on SNL for sure.
Humor is the best medicine. Good job keeping all of us informed Jeff.
Sounds like mom and son are doing good. Know how hard this has been for you also.
Hugs to all of you.

Jeff, Carrie & Kevin, It is so inspiring to see such great humor under such serious circumstances. Your family’s wonderful humor might just be the best remedy for all of you right now…. As for the morphine – It sure does make surgery much more tolerable!

I’m glad to be reading about Kevin and Carrie’s continued healing. All praise be to God! I hope to meet you, Carrie, and you, Mr. Funnyman! Continuing prayers to all of you!

How exciting! Jeff, you are always funny and from what I hear, good looking. However you make a good point, those who have said so have always been under the influence, so we may never know the truth. You have made this surgical journey hopeful and informational with a hint of much personality which I can say with complete sobriety, entertaining and yes funny.
