Hello from UCLA Room 8341

Hello Everyone!
I am thrilled to be writing you from my hospital room, with my new kidney intact! I am continuing to recover and am feeling great. While the surgery was “technically complicated”, according to the surgeon, it went well overall and I am doing good. There is still pain when I go from lying to sitting, or sitting to standing, but I am able to walk around the hall here at the hospital slowly… and then come back and get into bed, haha. I am so pleased that recovery is going so well, and I am looking forward to going home either Sunday or Monday, most likely.
I can’t thank you all enough for the super-kind comments and encouraging notes you have left me over these past few days. It gives me so much joy to open my computer and look through the comments I am getting. God is good!
Thank you for your support and being by our side. I can’t wait for this all to be behind me and get back to a “normal” life, which I am already on the path to. Oh, and I apologize that you have been stuck with my dad for the blog updates. I hope he’s not too boring. I’ll be firing him soon and taking back over
Lots of love,
Kevin

Kev– you look like a million dollars :] Much love to your parents. Try not to be too hard on Dad– I’ve been reading your blogposts instead of paying attention to classes and I must say, he’s at least funnier than my oceanography professor. :] I’ll shoot you a text this weekend if the parents can spare me for a bit from New Years Festivities to come see you, if you’re feeling up to it. <3

Hi Kevin,
You don’t know me, but you know my sister, Carol Gibbs, and I know your mom. I have a son who is also 24. We have been praying for you faithfully, and it fills my heart with joy to read such good reports. I’m so happy to think about you just getting back to a “normal” life. Praise God, from whom all blessings flow!

Kevie!! You look awesome! Actually you look like you are under the influence, but hey, what would I know about that?? So you kicked Dad to the curb, eh? Your Mother really annoys me I gotta tell ya…she looks better the day after giving up her kidney than I do on my best day…what’s up with that?? I am grinning ear to ear about all the good news; it’s just the best Kev and we are all so relieved and so thrilled for you all. We love you! XXLani

Well, it’s about time we hear from someone who knows what’s going on! The ramblings of your dad are hard to follow. I have figured out why he stays by your bedside so much… tell him to quit eating your food. Kevin, it is so good to see your smiling face. Can’t wait to drink a gallon of liquids with you and having a “relief party”
